1790: Not found listed by name. Have not analyzed age and gender of males in other Golden households to determine if Thomas W. Golden was possibly present. Birth year is given as 1775-1781. Would have been age 9-15 in 1790.

1800: Thomas Golden listed as age 16-25 (1775-1784), with a female age 16-25 in the household, and male under age 10 (this would be son Robert Philander Golden 1790–1849). Edgefield, South Carolina. Surname is ‘Goulden’ in the census. ^[1] 1800; Census Place: Edgefield, South Carolina; Series: M32; Roll: 47; Page: 178; Image: 345; Family History Library Film: 181422 Lived three homesteads over from Aaron Etheridge, a cousin. Lives not far from William Cotney, neighbor to ‘Samuel Gilden‘, who may be Samuel Golden. William and Nellie’s daughter Margaret Frances Golden married into the Cotneys. Son or brother Samuel Golden is of age to be in the 1800 census but is missing.

Land is located on the waters of Little Saluda River on Beaverdam Creek. — 1805 Feb 29th: Thomas Golden residing at Beaver Dam Creek, Saluda, South Carolina. Is witness to a land transaction for Sarah Edwards to Benjamin Forkner, Deed, $100, sixty seven acres lying on from Thomas Golden’s Spring Branch binding on Joel Etheridge’s land and William Golden. Wit William Calney [probably Cotney], Thomas Harris. /s/ Sarah (x) Edwards. ^[4]Must find source reference.

—— This 1805 land transaction is the only known documentary reference that  ties very together Thomas Golden with William Golden all living together … with Etheridges nearby … as well as Cotneys, one of whom would marry a daughter of William Golden. Thomas Sr probably passed away in 1790s, after 1792. There is a 1792 land transaction between Thomas and the Milhouse family. ^[5]Footnote needed. Appears to have been a landlease.

Daughter Elizabeth Golden was age 11 (c1819) in 1830. All known children born before 1825.
