There is a tree on Ancestry that claims John James Golden descends from Samuel Golden, 1770-1857. Not so. Samuel did have a son named James Golden who was married to a Sarah. Samuel’s son James was born 1799 in South Carolina and died prior to 1857. However, John James Golden lived his later life in Texas and passed in 1857 at Shelby, Texas. Samuel’s son James lived his lived in Arkansas and is well documented as doing so, having passed away prior to 1857 at Greene, Arkansas.
