Golden Genealogy and Family History

Introduction

Several of our Golden lines that branched between 1770-1790 have DNA matches with descendants of the Godden family of southeastern England in the Kent area.

A peculiarity with the English Goddens and with many of our DNA matches is that we also have numerous matches with Godwin.

Per A.I., the Godden family name has deep roots in Southern England, particularly Kent, originating from Old English names like Godda or Godwine, meaning “God’s servant” or “good friend,” evolving into a surname in the medieval period. Historically, Goddens were found in places like Folkestone, Ruckinge, and Dorset, migrating to the US, Canada, and Australia.[1]As quoted from Gemini AI, 251229.
