Researching the Golding family of Orange/Albemarle Co. VA/Surry Co., NC. Reuben Golding b.c1802 in Surry Co., NC, married a woman named Elizabeth, maiden name unknown. I am also interested in the Golding families that lived in Henrico Co. VA. near the Hanover Co. line in the 1850/1860 period and their connection to the Orange/Albemarle Co. Goldings. Near my home there was a battle of Golding’s Farm which took place in 1862 during the Seven Days Battles. This farm was near Seven Pines, Fair Oaks and Savage’s Station for you Civil War buffs. In order to claim an ancestor’s medal, a claimant must submit his or her line of descent from the veteran along with documentation to support this line of descent. To establish line of descent, claimants must include copies of primary sources, including birth, death, marriage, will, deed, military, census, Bible records, etc. Old letters, diaries, marriage announcements, or obituaries may also prove helpful in verifying a descendant’s claim. Please note that a family chart submitted without further documentation is not sufficient.
