Christopher Columbus “Lum” Golden is probably one of the more photographed Goldens that I know of. There are numerous photos of “Lum” with his family on Ancestry.

Born 14 Jun 1882 in Scottsboro, Jackson County, Alabama, and passed 12 Dec 1957 at Gadsden, Etowah, Alabama.

OBITUARY – Christopher Columbus Golden

The Birmingham News, Alabama, December 15, 1957

C. C. Golden, retired Gadsden grocer
Gadsden, Ala. Dec 14– Funeral Services were held at Dwight Baptist Church Friday for C.C. Golden, 77, who died at home here Thursday. Burial was in Clayton Cemetery.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Nora Self Golden; five sons, H. E. Golden, J. F. Golden and A. C. Golden, all of Alabama City; Clyde Golden and Glen Golden both of Atlanta; two daughters, Mrs. Charlie Washam of Alabama City and Mrs. Frank Erwin of Atlanta, and two half brothers, Lonnie Golden of Gadsden and Dink Golden of North Carolina, a brother George W. Golden, Boaz, Ala and step-mother Mrs. Sallie Golden of E. Gadsden. A retired merchant, Mr. Golden was a member of Dwight Baptist Church and Dwight Masonic Lodge No. 550, F & AM. He was a native of Jackson County and had resided in Alabama City since 1907. He served as president of the City Council before Alabama City merged with Gadsden.

Note: Mrs. Charlie Walsham is Mary Frances Golden, and Mrs. Frank Erwin is Dorothy Ruth Golden.
