These American Golding males are R1b and can be easily identified via yDNA tests that show the STR values for 12, 25 or 37 marker tests.

William Golding and Elizabeth Foster were both born in the Essex, Virginia area and passed away in the Abbeville, South Carolina area, after moving  there in the early 1770s from Orange, Orange County, Virginia.

English Cousins?

Was helping someone discover their Golding/Golden family roots, which are clearly related to descent from William Golding and Elizabeth Foster.

Among Golding families that appeared within atDNA (Ancestry) match results were the following English Goldings:

John Golding, abt 1720 – Mar 1801

Birth and death: Shipton Oliffe, Gloucestershire, England
Marriage:
Ann Bath, abt 1717 – 30 Dec 1813

Son
Robert John Golding, 1750 – 18 Nov 1826
Birth and death: Shipton, Gloucestershire, England
Marriage:
Joan Mary Perry, 9 Aug 1752 – 15 Feb 1820

Daughter / Granddaughter
Prudence Goulding
Birth 14 Oct 1787 Shipton, Gloucestershire, England
Death 30 Sep 1851, Gloucestershire, England
Marriage
30 May 1809 to Robert Chappel Shill, Gloucestershire, England

atDNA tests need additional exploration to confirm that there is a relationship. Since there were several matches with English Goldings then it seems a bit beyond coincidence.
