Golden and Belcher family history — grandparents that you may not know that you have.

Nicholas Martiau Captain and Virginia Burgess Nicholas Martiau (1591-1657) settled at Jamestown in 1620 and was in the first Virginia House of Burgesses (legislature).

>>> Trivia note: President and General George Washington also descends from Nicholas Martiau.

GEN 12 — Captain and Burgess Nicholas Martiau (1591-1657), born in France, was a French Huguenot (Protestant), who settled at Jamestown in 1620 during the second wave of settlers.

Yorktown, Virginia sits on the former estate of Nicholas Martiau and there is a monument to commemorate ‘York’s founding’.
