1811-1822 – John R. Goulding hired as Chair of Ancient Languages, Franklin College, now part of the University of Georgia.

1823 – GOLDING, John R. m. Miss Sophronia Nott, eldest dau. of A. Nott of S. C. 12/25/1823. // Source: Mt. Missionary published Hancock Co., Ga. 2/2/1824.

1824 – GOLDING, John R. died of apoplexy while on a visit to South Carolina. Of Athens, formerly Professor of languages, Franklin College (now Univ. of Ga.). He died at summer residence of his father-in-law, Hon. Judge Nott of Union Dist., S. G. He represented Clarke Co. in State Legislature at time of his death. // Source: Georgia Journal 8/10/1824.
