Golden – Cletus Franklin  (KIA) … stepped on a mine in France during the invasion. Lost his life there. Son of William Henry Golden, brother to Leftridge Golden and Otis Dearl Golden among others.

— Birth 10 Jun 1921 in Briceville, Anderson, TN; Death 13 Dec 1958 in Lake City, Anderson, TN. Died in a car accident on the highway. Death due to head trauma.
— Parents: John Emory Golden, 1892 – 1978, and Alberta Bell Delta “Birdie” Hickson, 1897 – 1962
— Relationship: 3rd cousin 1x removed.

— Purple Heart. Buried Fort Leavenworth National Cemetery, Kansas.

— Wounded two weeks prior at Battle of Tarawa; over 200 pieces of shrapnel removed per news article; three other Golden brothers were in military service at the time: LTC Harold Lee Golden (1919-1969), Melvin Ross Golden (1921-1999) and James Edward Golden (1924-2003) survived the war.
