In 1754, Mantell was appointed captain of the famous English Navy ship, HMS Centurion with 54 guns. Mantell helped transport General Edward Braddock’s troops to Virginia in 1755 during the French and Indian War.
It is possible that Thomas Golden provided militia support to arriving English troops participating in the war.
