Numerous male Goldings and Goldens descended from William Golding, born c1704 d1782, and wife Elizabeth Foster, born c1704 d1775, have taken yDNA tests. These American Golding males are R1b and can be easily identified via yDNA tests that show the STR values for 12, 25 or 37 marker tests.
William Golding and Elizabeth Foster were both born in the Essex, Virginia area and passed away in the Abbeville, South Carolina area, after moving there in the early 1770s from Orange, Orange County, Virginia.
