Scoggie, Scoggins, Scroggins
There are numerous threads from these families interwoven via DNA and genealogy into my own family.
Some notes … not in any particular order other than approximate time sequence.

My relationship to Scoggins and Scroggins: Am in search of a grandmother born about 1745-1755, possibly born in Virginia or the Carolinas. Settled by 1780 in the Newberry, South Carolina area. Members of the Scoggins and Scroggins are documented as marrying into our family in the generations after and before this grandmother whose name is known only as ‘Nellie’. One branch of Scoggins were indeed neighbors at the right place and time (Lott Scoggins). DNA indicates a Scoggins connection during Nellie’s lifetime. Our Nellie may be a Scoggins.
There seems to be consistency across different family lines in the surname morphing back and forth between Scoggins and Scroggins.
Notes – Cobb Cobbs
There are many DNA match connections with the Cobb family of South Caroina that originated in Virginia before 1660. My direct grandparentage begins with Elizabeth Cobb, 1807–1880, married to John Goforth Parker, 1798–1859.

Collected notes on the family of Thomas Golden who settled at Newberry, South Carolina by 1761, if not a year or two earlier. Wife’s and children’s names are unknown … but DNA creates a path back in time as to Thomas’s origins and family associations. Multiple males branches descending from Thomas Golden are yDNA Y700 tested.
