Collected notes on the family of Thomas Golden who settled at Newberry, South Carolina by 1761, if not a year or two earlier. Wife’s and children’s names are unknown … but DNA creates a path back in time as to Thomas’s origins and family associations. Caraway Grandparents — As of July 2023, plentiful (10+) DNA matches have been made between our Goldens living near (Newberry SC) to the Smith-Caraway family (Abbeville SC). These matches strongly indicate that our Goldens had a Caraway grandparent within 1-2 generations preceding 1776.
